Praise The Lord - Song Story

This is an all-the-way Bluegrass remake of Fanny Crosby’s lyrics “To God Be The Glory” which she wrote in 1875. It’s based on a scripture passage from Galatians 1:4-6, where the Apostle Paul says, “Jesus gave his life for our sins, just as God our Father planned, in order to rescue us from this evil world in which we live. All glory to God forever and ever! Amen. I am shocked that you are turning away so soon from God, who called you to himself through the loving mercy of Christ. You are following a different way that pretends to be the Good News but is not the Good News at all. You are being fooled by those who deliberately twist the truth concerning Christ.”

I used to sit around my parents’ basement on Sunday afternoons jamming with my friends (you know who you are), playing old bluegrass and country gospel songs, and “bluegrassifying” old hymns. This song is my contribution to Calgary churches’ “Stampede Sunday” collection.
